The glulam beams are being lifted into place, theses are each just over 9.5 metres long and weigh just under 200kg, and although there are incredibly heavy, we have built several jobs with beams in excess of ten metres. There is plenty of muscle available but it is better and safer to use the mechanical advantage of a chain-block to hoist them into place.

The beams are pre-cut to suit the size of the lantern opening, and pre-cambered to account for the deflection under their own weight.
